Facebook post is illegal in Ethiopia offense, punishable up to 5 years!


Emergency situation declared last week in Ethiopia has become even more cruel during the passage of days. Under this new condition of the state, posting on Facebook is a violation of the law, said the Ethiopian government over the weekend.

Also, preview and Television networks like Oromia Media Network and satellite television and radio Ethiopian diaspora funded by the country is also supportive of the protests against the law and is illegal.

"The army will take action against those who post on social media," said Defence Minister Siraj Fegessa. Those who break the laws of the state of emergency Ethiopia could go to jail within three to five years.

Major ethnic groups in Ethiopia, Oromo and Amhara are protesting against the marginalization of human rights and freedoms to their country pozitare party dominated by the minority Tigray.

After a week of intense protests that have damaged government buildings and various businesses, Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn has declared a state of emergency on October 9 that will continue for the next six months./Missany/
